About Design Dilemma

Design Dilemma is dedicated to exploring the challenges of urban planning and design, particularly focusing on the impact of poor city design in the U.S. and its contribution to car dependency. Our platform aims to facilitate meaningful discussions, provide valuable insights, and propose innovative solutions to create more sustainable and people-centered urban environments.

What We Look For:

Cities in the U.S have been, for a long time, relying too much on cars. The issues arises because cities are designed to accommodate cars, not people.  U.S urban design has an inefficiency problem due to the fact that "Stroads" are used. Stroads are a combination of Streets and roads that are more dangerous and expensive to build and maintain.  A proper solution starts with categorizing each type of road and realize its intended use. After that cities should cut down road size in destination were a lot of people gather, this allows people to choose other forms of transportation like biking, and the freed space can be used for new business and housing.
